More 24 Vietnamese soldiers head to South Sudan for Peacekeeping Mission
On April 21 morning, at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the farewell ceremony was held for 24 Vietnamese soldiers at the Level-2 Field Hospital No. 3 heading to South Sudan to undertake the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.
The farewell ceremony saw the attendance of Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations; Major General Nguyen Hong Son, Director of Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of National Defense, representatives from Military Region 7, Division 370 (Air Defense - Air Force), Defense Attaché, representatives from the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, relatives of officers and staff of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 3.

Before leaving for South Sudan, 24 soldiers were trained to conduct medical emergencies and drive armored vehicles.
Although the Covid-19 partly affected their training, soldiers showed their determination to successfully accomplish the mission.

Female soldier Ngo Thi Hai Linh said: “Given the complicated development of Covid-19 epidemic, we couldn’t receive training support from the United Nations’ experts. However, I do believe that the Level-2 Field Hospital No. 3 will complete the task and return safely together”.

Previously, on March 24, 33 soldiers at the Level-2 Field Hospital No. 3 headed to South Sudan. They safely landed at Juba International Airport two days later. After completing the mandatory Covid-19 quarantine, they arrived at Bentiu base and officially assumed their duties from April 17.
On the afternoon of March 23, 63 soldiers from the field hospital No. 2 participated in the deployment ceremony before leaving for Bentiu (South Sudan).
