According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondent in the Republic of Korea, the Vietnamese Association in Asan City, South Chungcheong Province, officially held its inauguration ceremony on July 26.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister Counsellor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh stressed that the establishment of the Vietnamese Association in Asan City marked an important milestone, reflecting the maturity and solidarity of the local Vietnamese community.

On this occasion, she also expressed sincere appreciation to the authorities of South Chungcheong Province, Asan City, and the Republic of Korea agencies and organizations for their attention, support, and companionship in helping the Vietnamese community study, work, live, and integrate with peace of mind. She noted that such support vividly demonstrates the growing friendship and increasingly deep cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

Minister Counsellor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh emphasized that the community of more than 370,000 Vietnamese people in the Republic of Korea serves as an important bridge contributing to the strong and substantive development of the Vietnam-Republic of Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. She also highly appreciated the positive contributions made by the Vietnamese community in Asan to the locality's socio-economic development.

She expressed confidence that the Vietnamese Association in Asan City would become a united common home for the community, serving as an effective bridge between local Vietnamese residents, local authorities, and the Embassy of Vietnam.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Republic of Korea, she affirmed, will continue to stand alongside the Vietnamese community by supporting and creating favorable conditions for the association to operate effectively, fulfill its role in uniting the community, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of its members, and closely coordinating with local authorities and Vietnamese associations across Republic of Korea to build an increasingly united, civilized, and well-integrated Vietnamese community.

On behalf of the local government, Jo Cheol Ki, Chairman of the South Chungcheong Provincial Council, congratulated the Vietnamese community in Asan on the association's establishment. He also expressed his understanding of the challenges faced by those living abroad. Based on this understanding, he said that he and the Provincial Council had worked to introduce employment and welfare policies better suited to foreign residents.

Chairman Jo Cheol Ki added that the provincial government would continue making efforts to create favorable conditions for foreign communities in Asan, including the Vietnamese community, so they could settle down, integrate into local society, and continue to thrive.

Lee Gi Seok, Director of the Asan City Welfare Bureau, congratulated the Association's Executive Committee and emphasized that the Vietnamese community is an important part of the city's multicultural society. He expressed hope that the association would strengthen its role in connecting the community and work closely with the city government in activities supporting integration, cultural exchange, and community development, thereby contributing to making Asan an increasingly dynamic, friendly, and prosperous city.

Kim Hak Min, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Ethics Inspection of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, congratulated the establishment of the Vietnamese Association in Asan City and expressed his hope that it would continue serving as a bridge connecting the community, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and strengthening friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Asan City said the establishment of the association stemmed from the strong aspirations of Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in the locality. The association, he said, would serve as a common home that unites the community and supports members in stabilizing their lives and integrating successfully into local society while contributing to stronger friendship and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

During the ceremony, the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Association in Asan City officially made its debut and received the decision establishing the association. Dao Tuan Hung, President of the General Association of Vietnamese People in Republic of Korea, and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, President of the Vietnamese Association in Chungnam Province, also delivered congratulatory remarks, reaffirming their strong commitment to accompanying and supporting the new association in strengthening and assisting the Vietnamese community in Asan, while making practical contributions to the homeland and to the continued development of Vietnam- Republic of Korea relations.

Vietnam Ranks First in Number of Foreigners with Long-Term Stays in RoK According to a report released by Statistics Korea on July 9, Vietnam ranked first in the number of foreign nationals entering the RoK for long-term stays in 2025, with approximately 98,000 people. Vietnamese citizens accounted for the largest share among foreigners staying in the country for more than 90 days.
