Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, VUFO president, gifted a book about Uncle Ho to Cuba Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Gullien.

On the morning of May 26, in Hanoi, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations received Cuba Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Gullien, who came to greet and take a new working position in Vietnam.

The Cuban ambassador said he appreciated the impressive results that Vietnam had achieved in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. The ambassador shared a project to vaccinate all Cubans against Covid-19, as well as the development process of five vaccines against Covid-19 manufactured and developed by Cuba.

The Cuban ambassador congratulated Vietnam on the success of the 15th National Assembly election. He said he hoped that Vietnam would continue to support and assist Cuba, strengthen cooperation on important fields such as energy, oil, gas, and agriculture to help Cuba ensure its food security.

While sincerely sending greetings from Fernando Gonzalez Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples to VUFO president Nguyen Phuong Nga, the Cuban ambassador announced that the institute would postpone its 2021 visit to Vietnam due to the pandemic. The ambassador also hoped that the visit would be held in due course

Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Gullien hoped to strengthen cooperation with VUFO and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association through round-table talks, events updating information on Cuba, Vietnam-Cuba's relations, and policies, investment, and economic cooperation opportunities, between the two countries.

He also said that on June 23, Cuba would submit a report titled "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" to the United Nations General Assembly. Therefore, it needed support from the international community and Vietnam.

VUFO president Nguyen Phuong Nga welcomed the Cuban ambassador to come to Vietnam for his new position. She expressed trust that the ambassador would significantly contribute Vietnam - Cuba's good traditional relations.

Nga confirmed the good relations between the Cuban Institute of Friendship and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association. She talked about results of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vietnam - Cuba bilateral relations and also the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship, which took place in 2020.

Congratulating Cuba on the success of its 8th National Party Congress, Nga affirmed her willingness to cooperate with the Cuba Embassy to Vietnam in promoting mutual understanding between the two sides. VUFO and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association ahave plans to hold round-table talks, in which the Cuban ambassador is invited to speak about Cuba's situation, Cuba-Vietnam's relations, and opportunities for economic cooperation.

VUFO president Nguyen Phuong Nga expressed her belief that with his working experience, the Cuban ambassador would join VUFO, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association, and relevant ministries to further consolidate and develop the inherent traditional relationship between the Party, State and people of the two countries.
