On the very last days of 2020, great news came to the 360 children of Phu Dong Secondary School when a brand new football field was opened for them to play and practise.
This project, done by saigonchildren, was made possible with the support of the local authorities and Gameloft South East Asia.
With this football pitch, students could entertain with outdoor activities to release the stress and be more active, which would be helpful for their well-being.
When kids learn to play football, they’re not just learning a physical skill, but also skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and decision making, that they’ll be able to apply to all aspects of their life. In addition, they’re learning to play a game that connects them with millions of children all over the world.
Children often spend 60 per cent of their day at school. A space for children to exchange with each other, besides learning, in school, needed to create. Also, shortage of outdoor play areas have left urban kids growing increasingly dependent on digital devices for leisure activities, which has resulted in their imbalanced mental and physical growth and other issues.
Saigon Children’s Charity is an NGO registered in UK in 1992 and work exclusively in Vietnam for one purpose: to help disadvantaged Vietnamese children to get an education and a fairer start in life. The organization is committed to overcoming barriers to education for children, including poverty, geography, knowledge and disability.
