Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on November 7 asked newly-appointed ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative offices abroad to work to deepen cooperation between Vietnam and foreign countries and territories.
At a reception for the diplomats before they take over their duties abroad, the leader highlighted Vietnam’s foreign policy of multilateralism and diversification of foreign relations, active and proactive international integration, and being a reliable friend and a responsible member of the international community.
Vietnam is in a very important stage of development that needs great resources, he said, urging the diplomats to secure resources for national development, especially Official Development Assistance (ODA) and foreign direct investment (FDI), among others.

The Government leader said the diplomats should engage more in strategic study and forecast work, and mull over new development models applicable in Vietnam.
On behalf of the diplomats, newly-appointed Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi thanked the PM for his sentiments towards the diplomatic sector and diplomats in particular.
He pledged to make every effort to optimise all opportunities to make proposals to the Party and the State, especially those regarding development models.
Each ambassador and head of Vietnamese representative office abroad has the responsibility for joining efforts to complete socio-development targets, thus bringing the country forward, the ambassador said.
According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, a total of 31 officials have been appointed as ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative offices at this time. /.
