At the opening ceremony, Jonathan Wallace Baker, Chief Representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Vietnam, affirmed that with the theme Joining Hands with Flood-Affected Communities, the festival demonstrates that culture not only celebrates beauty and creativity but also serves as a source of compassion, resilience, and solidarity. This festival stands out not only for its vibrant colors and performances but also for its message that when culture connects, humanity unites.

“In these challenging times, culture reminds us of our roots - roots of resilience, compassion, and the power to rebuild life together,” Jonathan Wallace Baker emphasized.

A special highlight of the program was a 3D mapping projection on Doan Mon, offering a stunning visual experience that recreated Vietnam’s cultural symbols, heritage, and landscapes in a vivid multidimensional space.

Alongside the energetic rhythms of international music, the program also dedicated space to honor traditional Vietnamese arts, featuring ethnic musical instruments and folk melodies. Vietnamese music resonated in the heart of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, harmonizing with the sounds of the world, expressing a spirit of integration while preserving national identity.

The first Cultures of World Festival in Hanoi is open to the public free of charge from October 11 to 12.

Within the framework of the event, a variety of rich activities are held, including the Hanoi World Culture Day, Hanoi International Cuisine Program, film screenings, folk dances, fine arts, international costumes, the Ao Dai Festival, and the Hanoi International Book Day, creating a multicultural and colorful experience in the heart of the capital.

In particular, the international ethnic costume show Heritage Footsteps will take place on the evening of October 11, featuring nearly 100 traditional outfits with diverse colors, materials, and patterns, promising to be the most impressive and grand international costume performance ever held in Vietnam.
