First published in 1853 at Teatro La Fenice (Venice), La Traviata was composed by Giuseppe Verdi based on La Dame aux camélias (The Lady of the Camellias) by Alexandre Dumas (son). More than 170 years after its publication, La Traviata still retains its special place in world opera history and is regularly performed at prestigious venues.

Among the opera world often associated with mythology, history and the aristocracy, Verdi chose to tell a closer story about Violetta Valéry - a woman living amid the splendour of 19th-century Paris.

Beyond the light of splendid parties is the journey of people’s love, destiny, and social prejudice. The psychological depth of characters and the dramatic musical language of Verdi have made La Traviata one of the world's most beloved operas across generations.

This is the first time Ho Guom Opera House has collaborated with Giuseppe Verdi Trieste Opera House, one of the most renowned artistic symbols named after the great composer Giuseppe Verdi, with a history of more than two centuries, and associated with Italy’s longstanding operatic tradition.

Remarkably, this is a significant milestone when Ho Guom Opera House participates directly in the entire process of producing a classical opera in accordance with rigorous international standards. Famous European director Arnaud Bernard, who has profound artistic vision, was selected to lead the production. Arnaud Bernard will deliver a vivid, emotional, high artistic value, and the perfect combination of tradition and modern creativity.

The production will also feature distinguished artists, including conductor and pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell; soprano artist Maria Grazia Schiavo in the leading role of Violetta Valéry; Federico Longhi as Giorgio Germont; and Klodjan Kaçani as Alfredo Germont.

With the Ho Guom Opera House’s meticulous investment, dedication, and commitment, the production is expected to offer audiences a world-class operatic experience. All elements of the performance, from scenery and stage design to technical operations, will be carried out under a strict process following international standards.
