Over 1,000 artists attend Vietnam International Choir Competition
More than 1,000 artists from 10 countries and territories across the world have participated in the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition, which opened on Wednesday in Hoi An city in the central province of Quang Nam.
The competition, co-held by Germany’s Interkultur organisation and the People’s Committee of Hoi An city, is a part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Le Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee said: “The competition will treat the audience and tourists with interesting programs embracing unique cultures of different countries and inspire aesthetics among the public. It will contribute to the choir and chamber music trend and create uniqueness for Hoi An in its development and integration. The competition will tighten friendship between Hoi An and localities inside and outside Vietnam.”
The five-day event aims to promote culture, heritage and tourism potential of Quang Nam while introducing unique types of choir performances to the public. It is also a chance for Vietnamese artists to exchange performance experience with international choirs.
