This morning (March 2), the Government held a regular meeting of February 2021 chaired by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Reviewing the pandemic prevention results of the first 2 months of the year, the Prime Minister said that the Government has taken good care on the Lunar New Year with a high sense of responsibility, ensuring that everyone, every family had chances to welcome a normal Tet, with needed goods, stable prices, and the spiritual materials.

Newly registered businesses increased by 4%

Regarding the pandemic situation, the head of the Government said that the 3rd Covid-19 pandemic had penetrated the key economic region in the North including Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and even Hanoi. However, up to now, the pandemic has been basically controlled, though in Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong, new cases still appear.

In February, the Government also closed the list of imported vaccines and so far, the first batch of vaccines has arrived in Vietnam. The Prime Minister suggested that in the coming time, vaccination is required, in combination with the 5K rule of the Ministry of Health to prevent the pandemic more effectively.

Prime Minister said that in the first months of the year, Vietnam has had good signs about the economy. For example, agriculture production in the Mekong Delta is 1 quintal/hectare higher than last year, the price is higher, the market is also expanded.

Goods import and export activities in the first 2 months of the year achieved a high growth rate. Total import and export turnover in the first 2 months of this year was estimated at 95.8 billion USD, up 24.5% over the same period last year. In which, exports reached 48.6 billion USD, increased by 23.2%; import reached 47.3 billion USD, increased by 25.9%. The trade balance of goods in the first 2 months of the year was estimated to have a trade surplus of 1.3 billion USD. The business registration situation showed many positive signs. The whole country has 18,100 newly registered enterprises, 4% higher, with registered capital of 334.8 trillion dongs, increased by 52.2%.

The Prime Minister asked the Government members to pay attention to the global situation, especially the Bien Dong Sea and Myanmar, as well as, pay attention to the protection of Vietnamese citizens here.

Vaccination deployment

At the meeting, the Prime Minister asked to focus on the following issues:

First, continuing to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic by combining vaccination and the 5K message. The health sector is asked to stay cautious. If there is any new sign of pandemic, it is necessary to trace with better speed. Quickly vaccinate the poor, family under preferential treatment policy and 8 target groups approved by the Government.

"It is required that from this week, the Ministry of Health widely deploy the vaccination at maximum efficiency for the people of Vietnam. This is a necessary direction, the health sector and all levels must implement this issue quickly, especially to the groups of receivers that the Government approved", the Prime Minister thoroughly grasped. In addition, the head of the Government requested to continue zoning off outbreaks of Kim Thanh and Hai Duong, so that the whole country would no longer have areas of infection.

The second task mentioned by the Prime Minister is to promote production and business to complete the dual goals, contribute to economic growth.
