Project 3E has built a total of 10 schools, benefiting around 4,000 children in Long My. In addition to new classrooms accommodating hundreds of students, the project has upgraded IT equipment and facilities benefiting 1,900 local students and awarded scholarships to 900 students with outstanding study results.
Sreeram Iyer, ANZ’s Chief Operating Officer, Institutional, said, “Four years ago we partnered with saigonchildren to provide better education opportunities for children growing up in Vietnam. Today we are incredibly proud to see this project come to fruition, and the difference it’s making to the community is testament to the passion our employees have shown in achieving its objectives.”
Saigonchildren Executive Director, Damien Roberts, added: “The tremendous support and commitment from ANZ has delivered impressive results from this project. To see 4,000 children and their families now having a brighter start to life and better hopes for their future is an incredible achievement.”
Project 3E is a joint community initiative between ANZ, Saigonchildren and Hau Giang Province’s Department of Education and Training aimed at providing access to quality schooling in a sustainable way for children in Long My Town.
Through the project, ANZ and Saigonchildren helped build and enhance a mix of kindergartens and primary schools, improve teaching facilities and equipment in order to enhance the learning experience and teaching skills, provide scholarships and support programs to children and young people in need, and support project management-related training for local people involved in the program.
ANZ is one of the first foreign banks to open in Vietnam, and has been operating in the country for 25 years. In addition to Project 3E, the bank’s flagship financial literacy program, MoneyMinded, has benefited more than 4,000 people in Vietnam since its launch in 2012.
Saigonchildren is an UK registered NGO which has been operating in Vietnam for 26 years. The organization builds schools, provides scholarships, provides access to vocational training and supports organizations working with children with a disability./.
