Ambassador Tran Anh Vu expressed his deep appreciation for the development of the Vietnam-Brunei Comprehensive Partnership in recent years. He highlighted that bilateral trade cooperation in 2024 exceeded USD 650 million, more than double the figure for 2023. He emphasized the success of the Vietnamese language teaching program at UBD, which, with the support of agencies from both countries, has attracted hundreds of Bruneian students. This program serves as a standout example of educational, cultural, and people-to-people collaboration between the two countries. The Ambassador commended the active participation of the Vietnamese community and businesses in promoting Vietnam's image in the host country. He expressed confidence that the community and businesses will continue to play an increasingly dynamic role in advancing friendly cooperation between the two nations.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Hazri bin Kifle, Vice President of UBD University, stressed the pivotal role of education and cultural understanding as keys to success in today’s multicultural world. He acknowledged the positive impact of UBD's Vietnamese language program, implemented since 2022, in fostering cultural exchanges and enhancing Bruneian students' understanding of Vietnamese culture. Dr. Hazri also highlighted UBD's privilege in hosting high-ranking Vietnamese delegations in recent years, including the visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in February 2023, during which the Prime Minister engaged with Bruneian students learning Vietnamese.

The involvement of Vietnamese enterprises further enriched the program, particularly through their efforts to foster cultural and educational exchanges. Vu Viet Toan, Director of External Relations at Hai Duong Petroleum Joint Stock Company (HADUCO), shared that as a Vietnamese oil and gas enterprise expanding into international markets, including Brunei, HADUCO has committed to sponsoring Bruneian students with outstanding academic achievements in UBD's Vietnamese language program. These students will have the opportunity to participate in cultural exchanges and experiences in Vietnam, thus helping to forge stronger bonds between the youth of both countries.
Additionally, HADUCO made a charitable contribution during the event to Pusat Ehsan, a respected non-profit organization in Brunei dedicated to supporting children and individuals in challenging circumstances.
The program received widespread support and participation from government agencies, diplomatic missions, UBD lecturers and students, friends, partners, businesses, and members of the Vietnamese community in Brunei, showcasing the collaborative spirit between the two nations.
