PUM (Netherlands) brings advanced teaching methods to Vietnamese university
(VNF) – The Dutch non-governmental organization PUM recently conducted a one-week management skills course for offcials and lecturers of Dong Nai University of Technology (DNTU).
During the workshop, trainees were guided on lecturers capabilities assessment, modern teaching methods, and the key factors to build a up-to-date higher education environment. Instruction were provided by Anneke Bal-Atsma, senior expert from PUM.
Particularly, Anneke incorporated in her training different approaches of connecting schools and enterprises.
She started her presentation by displaying to the trainees a short film adapted from the folk tale: ‘Blind men watch elephant.” According to Anneke, the key message behind the story is: different people perceive the same issue from different angles, then come up with different opinions, and thus insisting on proving that they are right.

Nevertheless, in real life, because the big picture is not easy to be seen, therefore, the best way to deal with this problem is discussion, in which people can voice their ideas and be listened by others.
Furthermore, Anneke introduced to the trainees the book on organizational behaviors, titled Learning to Change: A Guide for Organizational Change Agents by Leon de Caluwe và Hans Vermaak.
The book includes a test for the readers to find themselves the 'true color' which represent their attitude and approach to change. Specially, all the questions are translated into Vietnamese.
