Reporting at the meeting, Nguyen Khanh Hiep, Director of the An Giang Department of Culture and Sports, said that the province is comprehensively implementing communication and promotional activities in preparation for APEC 2027. External communication efforts have been intensified, with more than 200 news reports, articles, and feature stories published each month across digital platforms and local media outlets.
In addition to proactively providing official information and guiding public awareness regarding APEC 2027, the province has launched a dedicated APEC 2027 website in both Vietnamese and English. It is also investing in upgrading telecommunications, internet connectivity, and digital communications infrastructure in key areas and accommodation facilities designated to serve delegates and members of the press.
The locality is also actively preparing its human resources, developing communication products to promote the culture, tourism, and image of An Giang Province and Phu Quoc, while coordinating the implementation of plans to ensure security and safety for activities during the APEC 2027 Leaders' Week.
Commending the efforts of An Giang Province and Sun Group in the preparation process, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang urged the locality to continue studying investment plans for modern television, audio, and visual systems, along with an advanced operations control center, to meet the working requirements of both domestic and international media organizations.
According to the Deputy Minister, relevant agencies should promptly finalize plans for the construction of the International Press Center, arrange accommodation, transportation, and other support services for journalists, and consolidate issues beyond their authority for submission to the APEC 2027 National Committee for timely consideration and direction.
She emphasized that thorough preparation would contribute to the successful organization of APEC 2027 activities while providing an opportunity to promote Vietnam as a peaceful, friendly, and stable country, and to introduce the distinctive cultural and tourism values of the Phu Quoc Special Zone and An Giang Province to the international community.
Following the inspection visit, agencies under the APEC 2027 Information and Culture Subcommittee will continue to coordinate closely and focus on implementing their assigned tasks to ensure both quality and adherence to the established schedule.
During the meeting, members of the Information and Culture Subcommittee and representatives of An Giang's provincial departments and agencies also discussed plans for investing in television and broadcasting infrastructure to serve APEC 2027. Participants recommended that the province promptly coordinate with Vietnam Television (VTV), Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), and relevant technical agencies to finalize technical solutions from the design stage, ensuring system compatibility and minimizing the need for adjustments once construction is completed.
In his concluding remarks, Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization and Deputy Head of the APEC 2027 Information and Culture Subcommittee, acknowledged the efforts of An Giang Province and relevant agencies in accelerating the implementation of projects serving the APEC 2027 Leaders' Week. He urged the locality to continue working closely with the Information and Culture Subcommittee throughout the preparation process to ensure that all components are implemented in a coordinated manner and meet the requirements for hosting APEC 2027.
According to The World & Vietnam Report, prior to the working session, the delegation conducted on-site inspections of a number of key projects and facilities serving the APEC 2027 Leaders' Week in the Phu Quoc Special Zone, including the APEC Conference Center, the International Press Center, the APEC Multi-purpose Performance Hall, proposed event venues, and the hotel system expected to accommodate domestic and international delegates and journalists.
