Assigned by the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command, the specialized unit was reinforced at Sa Huynh Border Guard Station. Its goal is to further implement the force to fight against IUU fishing by synchronously reviewing the itinerary, verifying information and communicating with the captains' families.
During the recent peak period, the unit detected and advised on handling 82 violations. By November 20, it continued to organize the delivery of 22 more decisions, bringing the total number of violations to 104, with fines totaling more than VND 13 billion, creating a strong deterrent against acts of violating the fishing boundary at sea.

According to the investigation and verification records of the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard's Specialized Unit and Sa Huynh Border Guard Station, the common profile of the offenders is the fishing boats 15 to 24m in length, operating far from shore in the northern region for many years. They seldom return to their mainland bases, making monitoring and handling difficult.
The Border Guard force has closely coordinated with the authorities and Sa Huynh Ward Police to clarify the violations and deliver the decision to each captain or relative according to regulations.

The goal is to detect and thoroughly prevent the situation of crossing maritime boundaries, while contributing to the Government's common efforts in the roadmap to remove "EC yellow card* for Vietnamese seafood.
