On September 15, RT (Russia) reported that the incident occurred the previous week, according to a video released by the SHOT Telegram channel. About three hours after takeoff, a 50-year-old passenger suddenly fell ill. When the Vietnamese crew issued a call for assistance, Minister Murashko, who is also a professionally trained physician, promptly responded.

The man was diagnosed with acute hypertension, posing a risk of cardiovascular complications. The Minister administered medication available on board, while also calming and assisting the patient in sitting upright. A video published by SHOT on September 14 showed Minister Murashko personally attending to the passenger throughout the emergency care.
Thanks to the timely intervention, the patient’s condition improved significantly, allowing him to continue the journey and land safely in Hanoi without further complications.
Minister Murashko’s official visit to Vietnam took place from September 12 to 14, during which he held talks with Vietnamese Health Minister Dao Hong Lan and attended the Vietnam-Russia Health and Business Forum. He also discussed the supply of medical products, treatment of Vietnamese patients in Russia, workforce training, and joint research initiatives.
In May 2025, Russia and Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on biomedical cooperation, covering training, expert exchanges, and joint workshops. The two sides are also working together to establish a corneal tissue bank in Vietnam - an initiative highlighted by President Vladimir Putin during his visit in June 2024.
Mikhail Murashko, 58, graduated from the Sverdlovsk State Medical University and previously served as chief physician at a hospital in the Komi Republic before taking on several medical management roles. From 2013, he headed Roszdravnadzor, the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare, and was appointed Minister of Health of Russia in January 2020.
