	WHO Launches Platform To Provide Free Cancer Drugs For Children

The event was attended and addressed by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra. Also in attendance were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, along with representatives from central ministries, agencies, and the Hanoi municipal authorities.

In launching the 2026 Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra emphasized that the Government regards drug prevention and control not merely as the responsibility of law enforcement agencies but as a shared responsibility of society as a whole. She stressed that the work should prioritize prevention, focus on grassroots communities, and place people at the center of building safe, drug-free living environments.

The Deputy Prime Minister called on all citizens to join hands in working toward the goal of a drug-free Vietnam. In particular, every citizen, especially young people, was urged to embrace the "three commitments": understanding the harmful effects of drugs, having the courage to say no to drugs, and taking responsibility for participating in drug prevention and control efforts. At the same time, they were encouraged to observe the "three don'ts": do not try drugs, do not violate drug-related laws, and do not assist drug criminals.

Following the launch ceremony, the nationwide campaign under the theme "United in the Determination to Build Drug-Free Communes, Wards, and Special Zones" was officially launched, aiming to protect public health, safeguard the future of younger generations, and contribute to the country's sustainable development.

As part of the program, the organizing committee provided policy-based financial support to businesses employing rehabilitated former drug users. Assistance was also extended to several individuals who had completed drug rehabilitation to help them stabilize their lives and reintegrate into society. This is considered one of the practical measures to reduce the risk of relapse and provide former drug users with employment opportunities and a stable livelihood.

Immediately after the rally, the mass running event titled "United in the Determination to Build Drug-Free Communes, Wards, and Special Zones" was held simultaneously across all 34 provinces and centrally governed cities. At the main venue in Hanoi, thousands of participants, mainly youth union members, young people, and local residents, joined the run around Hoan Kiem Lake, spreading the message of healthy living, saying no to drugs, and building safe communities.

According to the schedule, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the same day, a special artistic performance in support of the 2026 Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control will take place at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square. The program will portray the devastating consequences of drug abuse for individuals, families, and society, while also sharing stories of former drug users who have overcome their past and rebuilt their lives. Through these stories, it aims to inspire hope, determination, and the shared aspiration to build drug-free communities.
