The seminar concentrated on two principal topics: "Vietnamese Identity through Costumes: From Everyday Wear to National Attire and Fashion's Role in International Affairs" and "The Role of Vietnamese Costumes in Dance Performances and Recommendations for Diplomatic Engagement," offering in-depth theoretical insights and suggesting pathways for the evolution of traditional Vietnamese attire within diplomatic contexts.
During the seminar, Professor Dr. Thai Kim Lan highlighted the significance of safeguarding Vietnam's intangible cultural heritage, particularly traditional attire, as a means of honoring and promoting the nation's identity to an international audience. She encouraged the younger generation to cultivate their understanding of the country's culture, history and long-standing traditions.
"Vietnam is undergoing significant economic and cultural growth, and it is imperative that the younger generation actively seeks knowledge and not be timid. This is essential to enhance the nation's presence on the global stage," Lan stated.
Lan offered insightful perspectives across various domains, including philosophy, Vietnamese, and global cultures. She emphasized that every diplomat and Vietnamese individual overseas serves as a "cultural ambassador," helping to forge a distinctive representation of Vietnam on the world stage.
In discussions with guests and students at the Diplomatic Academy, Prof. Dr. Thai Kim Lan highlighted the significance of preserving and enhancing the rich traditional cultural heritage of the 54 ethnic groups, thus motivating the younger generation to uphold and cherish these invaluable traditions.
Alongside Thai Kim Lan's contributions, the 19/5 Art Troupe presented traditional performances, adorned in the nation's traditional costumes.
