Shanghai hopes to foster cooperation with Vietnamese localities

According to Vietnam News Agency, on October 9, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai had a meeting with Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng on his visit to the locality.

The Ambassador Pham Sao Mai congratulated Mayor Gong Zheng on the important achievements that Shanghai has achieved in socio-economic development, especially in the COVID-19 fight and economic recovery. He stressed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to developing comprehensive strategic cooperation with China and is pleased to witness the friendship and cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Shanghai has constantly thrived.

The Ambassador expressed his hope that Shanghai and Vietnamese localities will continue fostering cooperation in the future and the Shanghai government would create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens living and working as well as Vietnamese enterprises implementing trade and investment promotion projects in the locality.

The Ambassador also welcomes Shanghai enterprises to increase investment in Vietnam especially high-tech and environmentally-friendly fields.

For his part, Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng expressed his delight at the good relations between China and Vietnam, emphasizing that Shanghai always hopes to step up comprehensive cooperation with Vietnamese localities.

The Mayor also affirmed that the Shanghai government will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises implementing trade and investment promotion projects in the locality. He expressed his hope that Vietnam will attend the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE) slated to take place in Shanghai in early November as well as the 10th China Flower Expo in 2021. Mayor Gong Zheng also accepted the invitation to visit Vietnam on an appropriate occasion.
