From September 16 to 22, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization Nguyen Trong Nghia visits Australia on a business trip.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam emphasized that the visit will contribute to promoting political cooperation, cooperation in the Party channel as well as expanding cooperation in the fields of education, information, culture, science and technology, and innovation. The bilateral strategic relationship of trust is constantly strengthened, for the sake of peace, stability, and development in the region. With rich and practical activities, the visit helps foster the understanding and cohesion between the two peoples and the friendship between Vietnam and Australia.

The Vietnamese diplomat also said that people-to-people exchanges are one of the focuses of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework. To strengthen this linkage, it is necessary to promote cooperation in the fields of communication, journalism, culture, information, sports, and arts with many flexible and creative forms, thereby contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples.

According to a VNA reporter in Sydney, the two sides have approved the 2024-2027 Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, focusing on 6 pillar areas: deepening in cooperation of politics, defense-security and justice fields; promoting economic cohesion; building knowledge and connecting people; strengthening cooperation of climate, environment and energy fields; supporting science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; strengthening regional and international cooperation.

These are both areas of mutual interest and in line with the current policy focus of each country. Up to now, the two sides have coordinated to complete or implement on schedule 96% of the total 180 action lines of the Program. In the coming time, Vietnam-Australia relations will continue to be strongly and comprehensively implemented in all 6 pillar areas, towards practical and concrete results.

Ambassador Pham Hung Tam shared that the Vietnamese community in Australia currently has about 350,000 people. Vietnamese is among the four most spoken languages in Australia, after English, Chinese, and Arabic. During his recent visit to Vietnam, Governor General Sam Mostyn and senior Vietnamese leaders highly appreciated the development and positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Australia to bilateral relations.

The visit of the Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization Nguyen Trong Nghia to Australia is a continuation of the Party's and State's recognition of the community, and at the same time shows the interest, encouragement and affirmation of the Party's and State's consistent policies towards Vietnamese community in Australia in particular and the overseas Vietnamese community in general.
