Deputy Minister Berris Ekinci conveyed the best wishes of the Turkish leadership and government to the leadership and people of Vietnam. She recalled the historic and significant visit to Turkey by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in 2023, highlighted the outcomes of the recent official visit to Vietnam by Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler (on September 10-11), and affirmed Turkey’s desire to further strengthen its relations with Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Berris Ekinci also emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1978, Turkey and Vietnam have maintained a relationship of friendship and effective cooperation across many fields, including trade, investment, defense industry, culture, and tourism. Vietnam is Turkey’s second-largest trading partner among the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Dang Thi Thu Ha stressed that over the past eight decades since gaining independence, Vietnam has overcome many challenges to rise as a peaceful and stable nation, a favored destination for investors and international visitors, and an active and responsible member of the international community.

The Ambassador also noted that despite geographical distance, Vietnam and Turkey share many similarities. The friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have been continuously nurtured by generations of leaders and are steadily developing, with important progress achieved in various areas, particularly in economic, trade, and defense cooperation. Turkey is one of Vietnam’s leading trading partners in the region.

The celebration took place in an atmosphere rich with Vietnamese cultural identity, featuring performances of traditional musical instruments, hat van and folk songs by Meritorious Artist Thanh Loan and artist Minh Trang. Guests had the opportunity to admire images showcasing Vietnam’s diverse regions and to enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine from the North, Central, and South, accompanied by Mam wine - a distinctive Vietnamese fruit wine.

A particularly highlight came at the end of the ceremony, when Turkish and Vietnamese delegates, together with international friends, joined in singing “As if Uncle Ho were with us on Victory Day” - a song deeply associated with national pride and the beloved image of President Ho Chi Minh.

Earlier, on the evening of September 2, 2025, the Atakule Tower - a landmark and tourist attraction in Ankara, was lit in red, with the words “Happy National Day of Vietnam” continuously displayed in both English and Turkish at the top of the tower.

On this occasion, the Embassy of Vietnam in Turkey organized a flag-raising ceremony, exchanges, and group photos, enabling embassy staff and the Vietnamese community to share in the atmosphere of Vietnam’s 80th National Day as celebrated at home, while also introducing Turkish friends to the history and traditions of the Vietnamese nation.

This was the result of coordination between the Embassy of Vietnam in Turkey and the authorities of Ankara.
