Solidarity Night Held in Warm and Friendly Atmosphere

Delegates of the 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council (WPC) attended the Solidarity Night in a warm and friendly atmosphere on the evening of Nov. 22 in Hanoi.

In his remark, Uong Chu Luu - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of Vietnam's National Assembly, and President of the Vietnam Peace Committee said: Over the past seven decades, the WPC and its member organizations and international friends had given Vietnam good friendship, great international solidarity, and valuable support, making an important contribution to Vietnam's victories in two long-term resistance wars and great achievements in the present-day renovation, construction and defense of the Fatherland.

According to Uong Chu Luu, peace, cooperation and development are the major trends, however, global peace and security are facing many significant trends and challenges. Such context further confirms the value of peace and stability, the role of solidarity, and the strength of the people in the cause to protect and preserve peace.

"The WPC has always been a frontier in gathering, uniting, and leading the democracy, progress, and peace movements around the world in the glorious cause of national independence and democracy and social justice," said Uong Chu Luu.

Socorro Gomes Coelho, President of the World Peace Council, expressed her emotion at Vietnam's hospitality. “I am moved to witness Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development. You show determination in the struggle to preserve and protect peace,” she said.

During the event, the delegates enjoyed musical performances with traditional musical instruments and Vietnamese dishes.
