The complex, comprising two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 420 MW, was developed by Vietnam’s Xuan Cau Holdings and Thailand’s B.Grimm Power Public Company.
It covers an area of 504 hectares within the semi-submerged land at Dau Tieng Lake and has an investment of 390 million USD.
The project is capable of supplying around 688 million kWh per year to the national grid, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 320,000 households.
It is estimated that electricity generated by the farm can meet the power demand of Tay Ninh and supply additional power to the southern region.
Vietnam has great potential for renewable energy with 2,700 hours of sunshine a year, according to the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment.
Vietnam aims to produce 10.7 percent of its electricity through renewable energy by 2030, mainly through solar and wind energy.
