Strengthening economic empowerment for youth and women in the sustainable value chain in Lai Chau

The product of Te Rau Rice, which is produced by the organic agricultural process, has been introduced to the community.
Te Rau Rice, together with local chicken and banana are 3 potential products of the project “Strengthening economic empowerment for youth and women in the sustainable value chain”, implemented in 5 communes: Khong Lao, Nam Xe, Hoang Thuan, Dao San and Ban Lang of Phong Tho, Lai Chau.
Currently, there are total 112 youth, women and households participated in the implementation of Te Rau Rice model. In this project, people are given access to high-quality rice, participate in intensive training workshops on rice production, as well as be provided with knowledge and tools to support economic management.
According to Plan International, achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment is not just about human rights - it is also a vital component of sustainable development. Investing in girls and women can bring transformational changes, not just in their own lives but for their families, communities, societies and economies./.
