Strengthening People-to-People Ties, Unlocking Viet Nam-Iran Cooperation Potential

On July 24 in Hanoi, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Phan Anh Son received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Viet Nam Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi. The two sides reaffirmed the importance they attach to the Viet Nam-Iran friendship and agreed to step up people-to-people exchanges, expand connections among localities, businesses, and organizations of the two countries, and contribute to advancing bilateral relations in a more substantive manner commensurate with their potential.

Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi emphasized that friendship organizations are always the “first gateway” in building and developing relations between nations, playing a pioneering role in connecting people and fostering mutual trust. He noted that the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations serves as an important bridge in enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening ties between the peoples of Viet Nam and Iran.

Observing that Viet Nam-Iran relations still hold considerable room for further development, Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi proposed that the two sides increase exchanges of delegations and strengthen links among experts, research institutes, and organizations of both countries to promote cooperation across a wide range of fields. He also stressed the need to expand cultural exchanges, promote dialogue on history, and strengthen connections among universities, localities, and businesses in Viet Nam and Iran to deepen mutual understanding and closer bonds between the two peoples.

Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi affirmed that the Embassy of Iran in Viet Nam will continue to work closely with the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations to organize people-to-people exchange and cooperation activities while strengthening connections among organizations and localities of the two countries.

President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son congratulated Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi on assuming his diplomatic post in Viet Nam and expressed confidence that the Ambassador would have a successful tenure, making positive contributions to the development of the Viet Nam-Iran friendship.

Welcoming Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi's proposals, President Phan Anh Son affirmed that the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Viet Nam-Iran Friendship Association stand ready to jointly organize exchange programs and facilitate visits and working trips by Iranian delegations to Viet Nam. He expressed confidence that the two sides would implement many practical cooperation initiatives, enabling the peoples of Viet Nam and Iran to gain a deeper understanding of each other's countries, peoples, and cooperation potential.

Both sides expressed confidence that the close cooperation between the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Embassy of Iran in Viet Nam would continue to promote the role of people-to-people diplomacy, enhance mutual understanding, and help advance Viet Nam-Iran relations in line with the full potential for bilateral cooperation.
