Over the past three years, the “She Thrives” project has organized dozens of training courses on livestock and poultry farming, coffee processing, and handicraft production, directly supporting 5,260 people - 60% of them women - to significantly increase their incomes. Participating households have invested in expanding production, upgrading animal pens, and effectively connecting with markets, thereby boosting earnings and improving living conditions, including paying school fees and healthcare for their children. Twenty-seven sustainable livelihood models have been supported and scaled up, focusing on livestock, crop cultivation, and agricultural processing.

In the field of microfinance, 31 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) were established, bringing together a total of 366 members - most of them are women - who have mobilized and rotated more than VND 1.4 billion in capital to serve production, business, and essential consumption needs.

In addition, the project has supported traditional production groups in enhancing their market access through technical improvements, product diversification, and linkages with buyers. These achievements demonstrate the potential for sustainable development of community-based agricultural and business models in the locality.

Speaking at the project’s closing, Bach Thanh Tuan, Director of the Dak Lak Community Development Center (CDC), said: “The She Thrives project has shown that when local communities, especially women, are equipped with adequate knowledge and appropriate tools, they can create positive and sustainable change. We are proud to partner with CARE and Cargill on this journey to build sustainable livelihoods in Buon Ho.”

Vuong Thai Nga, Program Director of CARE International in Vietnam, further shared the project’s goals and achievements: “The 'She Thrives' project has advanced economic opportunities for women and vulnerable communities. CARE has worked closely with local partners and communities to create an enabling environment that empowers women to build their capacities, access productive resources, and engage in income-generating activities. Our collaboration with Cargill and CDC has not only enhanced farmers’ skills but also amplified women’s voices, supporting their leadership and decision-making roles in economic development.”

“Thanks to the training courses and support from the She Thrives project, I have gained more confidence and knowledge to expand my family’s livestock farming. For the first time, I truly feel that I can contribute to increasing our household income and take the initiative in making decisions for our family’s future,” shared T’Lui Nie, a project participant in Buon Ho, Dak Lak, at the event.

The “She Thrives” project is part of Cargill’s commitment to supporting the sustainable development of Vietnam’s agricultural communities by building capacity, creating access to finance and markets, and contributing to a sustainable and inclusive future for all.

Over its 30 years of operation in Vietnam, Cargill has continuously supported rural communities nationwide, with a particular focus on the Central and Central Highlands regions. Through the Cargill Cares charitable fund, the company has financed the construction of 121 school facilities across the country, including 14 projects in remote areas of the Central Highlands - five of them in Dak Lak Province. The “She Thrives” project has built on and further amplified these positive impacts through initiatives that promote sustainable economic development for farmers and ethnic minority communities in Dak Lak.
