The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province, in collaboration with Plan International Vietnam, recently organized a launch workshop for the project "Climate Resilient Agriculture for Women Economic Empowerment in Vietnam."
The project is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), with a total budget of over VND 19 billion (USD 725.700), and will be implemented in Truong Son and Dan Hoa communes from 2025 to 2027.
The project aims to support climate-resilient livelihoods for 1,000 smallholder farming households (with a focus on ethnic minority women aged 18–40); build capacity for 100 local government and mass organization representatives on gender equality and sustainable agriculture; and raise awareness among nearly 18,000 community members on climate change and the role of women in community development.

More than just a livelihood initiative, this project creates opportunities for women in disadvantaged areas to be empowered, take proactive action, and become key drivers of sustainable development in their communities.
Speaking at the event, Le Quynh Lan, country director of Plan International Vietnam, emphasized that climate change not only threatens livelihoods but also exacerbates gender inequality, especially for ethnic minority women. Plan International Vietnam is committed to working alongside communities through sustainable livelihood solutions, helping women take charge of their futures and those of their families.
Tran Dinh Hiep, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri, highly appreciates the support from KOICA and Plan International Vietnam. This project is especially meaningful as the province strives for sustainable poverty reduction and climate change adaptation. KOICA is committed to working closely with relevant sectors and local authorities to ensure the project's effectiveness, placing women and children at the center of development.
