Hanoi is speeding up preparations for the Independence Day celebrations on September 2, with the focus being the parade and march through Ba Dinh Square and many streets. Besides the capital's residents, people across the country are eagerly awaiting the special parade and march. Hanoi is implementing activities to best support people who plan to visit the capital to celebrate the profound festival.
On August 20, the People's Committee of Hanoi issued Official Dispatch No. 4686/UBND-KGVX on ensuring conditions to serve residents and tourists to watch the commemorative activities, the Anniversary, parade, and march. In addition to ensuring security and order, the city will implement a plan to provide necessities such as drinking water, instant food, shelter from the rain and sun, and free buses for the audience, with priority being given to veterans and the elderly visiting Hanoi from other localities. These activities were carried out in many areas during the days of the preliminary rehearsal, general rehearsal, and the official Anniversary, parade, and march.
Luu Thi Toan, a resident of Kim Tan commune, Thanh Hoa province, was pleased to hear the news. “Everyone is looking forward to watching the parade, but we are worried about the crowd. Upon knowing that Hanoi implements many measures to support tourists, we are reassured. Despite my elder age, I will go to Hanoi to enjoy activities, including the parade and march," she stated.
Tens of thousands of people also choose to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum on Independence Day (September 2). Hanoi Department of Tourism coordinates with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command to plan to prepare gifts for the people. Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said that tens of thousands of gift boxes, including beverages and snacks, are expected to be given out. This activity aims to contribute to building the image of Hanoi tourism as safe, friendly, and civilized.
The parade and march are planned to take place in the open space; however, not everyone will have the chance to witness them in person. To meet the needs of residents and visitors from near and far, Hanoi has installed 284 large LED screens to broadcast the events. These include screens positioned along the three main parade and march routes, as well as seven large screens placed at six gateway entrances to the capital.
Since the beginning of August 2025, the city has launched a campaign to clean and decorate the streets, receiving enthusiastic support from the community. Socio-political and mass organizations have actively organized initiatives to enhance the urban landscape and environment, particularly in central wards such as Ba Dinh, Giang Vo, Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, and Hai Ba Trung.
In parallel with these efforts, the Department of Culture and Sports has launched the digital platform A80 – Proud of Vietnam, a virtual assistant designed to provide essential information to the public. From parade routes, art programs, and exhibitions to restaurants, hotels, medical services, and transportation systems, the platform enables residents and tourists to plan their schedules proactively and make the most of their experience.
To ensure public health and safety, the city has taken comprehensive measures to meet medical needs and uphold food hygiene standards. Additionally, more than 600 public toilets have been installed in high-traffic areas, and over 400 institutions, including government agencies and schools, have registered to open their restroom facilities for community use.
With the unified efforts of the entire political system, Hanoi is committed to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that both residents and visitors feel truly "at home" during the upcoming celebration.
