The first New Year exchange for foreign students in Vietnam held in Hanoi
Foreign students in Vietnam had a memorable early Lunar New Year (Tet) celebration together on Jan 15 in a special exchange program titled "Gap go Vietnam" (Meet Vietnam)”. The event, held by the Central Committee of Vietnam Communist Youth Union, took place in the Hanoi University - a host of many international students.
During the event, 340 foreign and Vietnamese students from different universities in Hanoi had gathered together to celebrate the Tet - following Vietnamese traditional customs. They enjoyed arranging (Mam ngu qua) five-fruit trays, making “Banh chung” (rice cake made from glutinous rice, mung beans, pork, wrapped in leaves).

Besides, young people also had chance to try calligraphy writting and New Year greeting cards crafting. Traditional folk games were held along with New Year songs performance. "Meet Vietnam", the first of its kind for foreign students in Vietnam celebrating Tet festival, played a significant part in introducing exotic traditional cultures of Vietnam to international friends./.
