Uncle Ho through Documents and Artistic Creations

On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025), Hanoi hosted numerous exhibitions celebrating his life, career, and ideology. These events honored his legacy as an outstanding revolutionary leader and a great cultural figure, not only of Vietnam but of the world.

According to VNA, on May 16, the National Exhibition themed "President Ho Chi Minh – National Quintessence, Contemporary Stature" opened in Hanoi under the direction of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; and the the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Le Thi Phuong, Director of the Relic Site, stated that the exhibition showcases nearly 300 valuable documents and images, offering a comprehensive view of President Ho Chi Minh's life and career in connection with Vietnam’s cultural, ethical, and revolutionary values. The exhibition not only affirms the significance of Ho Chi Minh’s legacy in the nation’s history and global era but also reflects the deep admiration and gratitude of the Vietnamese people toward him.

On this occasion, the Relic Site organized a variety of meaningful activities, including the photo exhibition "Uncle Ho at the Presidential Palace (1954–1969)," the opening of the thematic gallery "Uncle Ho with the South – The South with Uncle Ho," and the launch of the book "135 Years of Stories about Uncle Ho." Additionally, a dedicated book space featuring works on President Ho Chi Minh and a heritage experience program for students were introduced.

According to the Vietnamese Government Portal, on the same day, the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts in Hanoi inaugurated the thematic exhibition "Ho Chi Minh in the Visual Arts," showcasing 60 selected works from the museum’s collection alongside pieces by various domestic and international artists. These artworks depict Ho Chi Minh’s image through diverse media, including painting, sculpture, embroidery, and paper carving.

Many outstanding artworks vividly depict Uncle Ho during the resistance war, including "President Ho Working in the Viet Bac Resistance Zone" by Phan Ke An and "Uncle Ho Working in Viet Bac" by Nguyen Van Ty. His close connection with the people is also beautifully captured through works such as "Uncle Ho Visiting the Primary School by Do Huu Hue" and "Uncle Ho with Farmers by Van Tho".

The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh in visual arts” opens from May 16-30, 2025 on the 1st floor, Building B, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi).

The exhibition also features contributions from international artists, including David Thomas (USA) and Lee Sang Phil (Repubic of Korea), whose portraits of President Ho reflect the admiration and respect of global friends for his legacy.

According to Nghe An Province Information Portal, from May 16-20, Nghe An Province held a thematic exhibition “Ho Chi Minh, the most beautiful name”. With more than 400 carefully selected images, documents, and precious artifacts, the exhibition vividly recreates President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary journey.

The exhibition space is organized into several thematic clusters, including President Ho Chi Minh – National Liberation Hero, Outstanding Cultural Figure, The Great President Ho Chi Minh Lives Forever in Our Cause, Fulfilling His Wish: Building a More Prosperous and Beautiful Country, and Studying and Following Ho Chi Minh’s Ideology, Morality, and Style. A particularly significant section, President Ho Chi Minh with the People of All Ethnic Groups in Vietnam, vividly portrays a united, equal, and harmonious Vietnam.

More than a tribute to President Ho Chi Minh’s legacy, the exhibition serves as a source of inspiration for younger generations, fostering solidarity and igniting the aspiration to contribute to a thriving nation. From Uncle Ho’s homeland, the light of his ideology continues to shine, reaching all corners of the country and resonating with international friends.
