Venezuelan Scholars Celebrate Vietnam’s Journey of National Rise
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese studies scholar Dr. Carolus Wimmer, Chairman of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship House, extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the success of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. According to him, this is a glorious historical milestone marking a great turning point that brought the Vietnamese nation into an era of independence, freedom, and socialism.
As a long-standing researcher who has had the opportunity to visit Vietnam many times, Dr. Carolus Wimmer expressed his profound respect when discussing the roots of the Vietnamese people's remarkable achievements. He emphasized that the ideology of President Ho Chi Minh, together with the talented and farsighted leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has been the decisive factor behind every victory throughout the glorious 96-year history of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 81 years since President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Having directly witnessed the outstanding achievements of Vietnam’s renewal process, which he always respectfully refers to as the “Vietnamese miracle,” Dr. Carolus Wimmer expressed his confidence that, by promoting the resilient spirit of the Vietnamese nation with its thousand-year civilization, the 81-year journey since the birth of the Vietnamese state, the cause of renewal, and particularly the 14th National Party Congress, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary and President To Lam, Vietnam is firmly entering the “era of national rise” and will certainly achieve even greater and more brilliant accomplishments on its path toward building socialism.
Speaking at the ceremony, Venezuelan scholars and researchers offered their highest praise for the great revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people. In her presentation entitled “The unbreakable thread of sacrifice and solidarity,” researcher Joselym Baez highlighted the epochal significance of the August Revolution of 1945, affirming that it was an epic written through the indomitable spirit of struggle for independence and freedom.
Sharing the same view, Dr. Anahis Lopez, Director of the Institute for Asia-Pacific Studies, and Dr. Arianna Guerrero, Head of the Ho Chi Minh Thought Research Group at the International University of Communications (UICOM), emphasized the great stature of Ho Chi Minh Thought. In particular, Dr. Anahis Lopez offered a profound perspective, affirming: “Vietnam is not only a shining beacon that once showed the way for nations in their struggle for national liberation and reunification, but today, the country continues to be a beacon, a brilliant symbol inspiring the world with its strong development, always associated with social progress and justice.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed his sincere gratitude for the enduring solidarity, admiration, and respect that Venezuelan figures, intellectuals, and people have always shown toward President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party, and Vietnam.
Reviewing the glorious 81-year historical journey since the autumn of 1945, Ambassador Vu Trung My emphasized that, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, after 81 years of establishment and development and 40 years of implementing the renewal process, Vietnam has achieved great and comprehensive accomplishments of historical significance. From a small-scale economy, Vietnam has now risen to become one of the most dynamic economies in the region and the world. The living standards of its people have continuously improved, while the country’s international position and prestige have been increasingly and firmly strengthened.
Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed that, building on these great achievements and deeply embracing the spirit of the 14th National Party Congress, the entire Party, people, and armed forces of Vietnam are united as one and maximizing internal strength toward the goal of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, affluent, civilized, and happy Vietnam.
As part of the commemorative program, more than 50 photographs depicting the spirit of the August Revolution of 1945 and Vietnam’s 81-year journey of nation-building and development were presented to the delegates. The ceremony concluded in a warm and moving atmosphere with stirring and heroic songs praising President Ho Chi Minh, written by the late Venezuelan revolutionary and folk musician Ali Primera and performed by singer and songwriter Edgar Parra.
“Forever Ho Chi Minh” art program will take place at the Bolivar Theater in Caracas on May 21, in commemoration of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). |
