Vibrant Events Celebrate 30 Years of Chevening Scholarship in Vietnam

The Chevening alumni and embassy staff also took part in a lake cleanup initiative, contributing to a cleaner and more picturesque environment to enhance the significance of this commemorative occasion.
As part of the series of events to commemorate 30 years of Chevening Scholarship in Vietnam, a roundtable discussion among the Vietnamese Chevening alumni was held on December 9 in Hanoi with the topic "Sustainable development". This emerged as a central theme throughout the year-long celebration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On the same day, a commemorative ceremony was held by the British Embassy in Hanoi. overing a diverse range of professions and workplaces, Chevening alumni delved into the latest updates on Viet Nam's commitments at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), the Resource Mobilization Plan for implementing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), and explored ways to support Vietnam's energy transition.

At the ceremony, British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew reflected on the 30 remarkable milestones of Chevening's journey in reaching out to Vietnamese students, as well as the growth and connectivity of the Chevening alumni community.
| Chevening is a global scholarship program established by the British Government in 1983. It is considered one of the most valuable and prestigious government scholarships for international students. In Vietnam, about 550 people have granted this scholarship in the past 30 years, since 1993. |
