According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Europe, the delegation led by Professor Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, worked with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Vienna University of Technology, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Austria, friendship organizations, and the Vietnamese intellectual community in Austria. These activities aimed to expand cooperation networks, strengthen connections between science and policy planning, and lay the foundation for research programs in the new phase.

As Vietnam's national representative at IIASA, the Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria and IIASA, organized a seminar on science diplomacy in Vienna. At the seminar, delegates discussed the role of science diplomacy in promoting research cooperation and connecting the scientific community with policymakers.

Speaking at the seminar, Professor Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that academies and research organizations should not only carry out scientific research but also play a role in connecting knowledge and promoting dialogue between science and policy. The Academy also aims to strengthen the application of systems analysis in policy consulting, connect Vietnamese scientists with international research programs on strategic technologies and sustainable development, and expand cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Sharing this view, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria, Vu Le Thai Hoang, affirmed that science and technology are increasingly becoming an important pillar of modern foreign relations. According to the Ambassador, no single country can solve the current global challenges alone; therefore, science diplomacy needs to be promoted as a bridge between scientists, research organizations, and policymakers, contributing to fostering international cooperation based on knowledge and trust.

During their time in Austria, the delegation also worked with the Vietnam-Austria Friendship Association, the Austria-Vietnam Friendship Association, and met with Vietnamese scientists and intellectuals studying, researching, and working in Austria. The parties discussed the possibility of connecting research groups, co-supervising doctoral students, exchanging academic knowledge, and implementing joint research programs, thereby leveraging Vietnamese intellectual resources abroad to serve the development of science and technology in Vietnam.

According to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, combining science diplomacy with people-to-people diplomacy will contribute to expanding international cooperation, accessing advanced knowledge, developing high-quality human resources, enhancing research capacity, and effectively mobilizing international resources, contributing to the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW.
