Vietnam gifts medical supplies to Royal Cambodian Navy

Authorized by the Naval High Command, the Sai Gon Newport Corporation held a ceremony to hand over medical equipment and supplies to the Royal Cambodian Navy to help the country in its Covid-19 fight on May 24 at the Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh Province.

The ceremony was attended by Colonel Vo Hoai Nam, Senior Lieutenant – Colonel Vo Hoai Nam, Deputy General Director of the Saigon Newport Corporation; Vice Admiral Non Sophat, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Navy; officers of the affiliated agencies; representatives of the Border Guard High Command and Defense Attaché Office of Cambodia in Vietnam, the People’s Army Newspaper reported.

The donations include two motorized sprayers, 10 battery-powered sprayers, 100.000 made-in-Vietnam three-layer medical masks, 500kg of disinfectant chemical Chloramin B, and 1.000 bottles of hand sanitizer.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant – Colonel Vo Hoai Nam shared with difficulties that Cambodian people have suffered, while highly speaking of the Royal Cambodian Navy‘s efforts in helping the Cambodian Army and Government in preventing and controlling Covid-19 prevention and ensuring national security. He expressed his hope that the aid would partly assist Cambodia in curbing the pandemic and restoring the economy.

Vice Admiral Non Sophat, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Navy extended his thanks to the Vietnam People's Navy for its timely assistance, affirming that the aid was a manifestation of good friendship between the two countries' navies, armies and people.

On this occasion, the Saigon Newport Corporation also gifted 10,000 face masks to officers and soldiers of border guard station at Moc Bai International Border Gate.

To date, Cambodia has reported 25,761 Covid-19 cases. As many as 8,359 have been given the all-clear, and 179 succumbed to the virus.
