“Vietnam-Greece Day in Edessa city" consisted of two activities: “Vietnamese Culinary Festival” and “Vietnamese Film Days.”
This was the first time that “Vietnam-Greece Day” was held in Edessa city, Pella region, northern Greece, where the people have a special affection for President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of “Vietnam-Greece Day in Edessa city,” Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong highlighted the jubilant atmosphere across Vietnam in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the authorities and people of Edessa city for supporting the Embassy in organizing and making this meaningful event a success.

For his part, Mayor of Edessa Ioannis Tsepkentzis affirmed that hosting “Vietnam-Greece Day” in Edessa was an honor for the authorities and people of the city.
He emphasized that the similarities in cultural traditions, history, natural beauty, as well as events like “Vietnam-Greece Day” in Edessa, would further strengthen the ties between Vietnam and Edessa in particular, and between Vietnam and Greece in general.
“The milestone of 50 years marks the beginning of a new stage in Vietnam-Greece relations, with even closer and more effective cooperation,” Ioannis Tsepkentzis stressed.

At the event, traditional dishes and handicraft products from Vietnam, especially souvenirs celebrating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, were particularly loved by Greek people.
Within the framework of “Vietnam-Greece Day,” the people of Edessa also had the chance to watch films showcasing Vietnam’s development achievements after 80 years of independence, documentaries about the special friendship between Vietnam and Greece, Vietnam and Edessa, as well as several documentaries on President Ho Chi Minh and award-winning Vietnamese feature films at both domestic and international film festivals.
The event “Vietnam-Greece Day held in Edessa city” was widely covered by local media, including Greek national television.
