Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 Leaves Strong Impression on Japanese and International Visitors
	Turkey Seeks to Strengthen Relations with Vietnam

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Society (CVFS) held an online seminar to share in the joy of the Vietnamese people and at the same time deepen understanding of Vietnam’s era of rising forward.

The event attracted a large audience from across Canada, notably featuring CVFS speakers who are members of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist), including Philip Fernandez and Steve Rutchinski.

With his in-depth knowledge of Vietnam, Fernandez skillfully moderated the seminar, making the atmosphere engaging for participants. He interwove archival video footage of Vietnam’s National Day celebrations, vividly recreating the joy, pride, and festive spirit of the Vietnamese people over their victories and achievements, which he emphasized were won and built by Vietnam itself under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Speaking to a VNA correspondent in Canada, Fernandez, the spokesperson of CVFS, said that after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc, many parties faltered because they could not cope with the situation or find direction.

According to him, one of the great achievements of the Communist Party of Vietnam was to identify a path forward in the new context, remaining steadfast in Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, while applying them in ways suited to Vietnam’s conditions.

At the Ottawa site, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Vinh Quang delivered an important speech reviewing the stages of Vietnam’s struggle and development from 1930-1975 and 1975-2025, and highlighting a new turning point as the nation prepares to enter its era of rising forward.

Participants in the seminar expressed particular interest in Vietnam’s success in national construction and development, noting its significant progress in implementing the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Delegates also remarked that Vietnam is playing an increasingly prominent role on the international stage, as a country that advocates peace and friendship.

Fernandez extended congratulations to Vietnam on the historic milestone of its 80th National Day and expressed hope that the country would continue to achieve new milestones in its era of rising forward.

The CVFS spokesperson emphasized that Vietnam’s key resolutions have been fundamental in revitalizing the economy, effectively addressing challenges, and tackling corruption.

He stressed: “Vietnam has won independence, and now, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the people are taking their destiny into their own hands in a new stage, a stage of rising forward.”

Rutchinski, a CVFS Executive Committee member, expressed his admiration for President Ho Chi Minh, particularly for his legacy in building and developing Vietnam, especially in today’s context of global change.

He also conveyed his wish to share experiences with the Vietnamese people, who are carrying forward 80 years of success on the path of building socialism.

Speakers and participants alike showed keen interest in Vietnam’s progress over the past 80 years, marked by dynamic economic growth and the country’s growing contributions internationally in the present era.

The seminar concluded with an affirmation of Vietnam’s spirit of renewal, reflected in the transformation of its development model, reforms in administrative streamlining, and investment in human resources as well as science and technology.
