Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 Leaves Strong Impression on Japanese and International Visitors

According to the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam’s National Day event, held on September 9 at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, attracted significant attention and participation from Japanese citizens, international visitors, and the Vietnamese community in Japan.

This event was one of Vietnam’s key highlights at EXPO 2025, contributing to the promotion of the country’s image, people, and culture to the world, while showcasing national identity, cultural values, development achievements, and future orientations.

The official ceremony was attended by a high-ranking delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thành Long, together with Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, and notably, Princess Tsuguko of the Japanese Royal Family.

Representing the Government of Japan and the EXPO 2025 Organizing Committee, Yuichiro Koga, State Minister in charge of EXPO at the Cabinet Office, concurrently State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, emphasized that since Vietnam and Japan elevated their bilateral relations to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World,” exchanges and cooperation have continuously been strengthened across all fields.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long affirmed that EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai is a meaningful convergence point, a combination of the past, present, and future; an important occasion for nations to share cultural values and advanced scientific and technological achievements, while also raising collective awareness and strengthening cooperation in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and in building the model of an ideal life for the future.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that Vietnam and Japan enjoy a high level of political trust, cultural, historical, and human affinities, long-standing people-to-people exchanges, and a framework of cooperation under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.”

On this basis, he expressed his confidence that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan will enter a new stage of more comprehensive, strategic, and profound development across all fields, for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai featured a wide range of cultural, artistic, trade, and promotional activities of varying scales.

Following the official ceremony, the opening art performance guided audiences on a diverse cultural journey of Vietnam with distinctive acts such as Quan ho Bac Ninh folk singing, the ritual tray dance of the Ba Chua Xu festival, contemporary water puppetry, Central Highlands folk music, the “Dan bau” aria from the opera Princess Anio - a symbol of Vietnam-Japan cultural cooperation, and the powerful voice of diva My Linh performing the classic "If we hold on together".

Alongside art and trade activities, a series of tourism and cultural promotion programs were held, including the photo exhibition “Vietnam - A Leading World Heritage Destination”, which showcased dozens of high-quality, award-winning works featuring Vietnam’s UNESCO-recognized cultural and natural heritage; and the program “Ninh Binh - The Heart of Heritage”, which highlighted the scenic landscapes of Ninh Binh through interactive activities such as traditional folk games, and souvenir giveaways.

Visitors also had the opportunity to explore Vietnamese tea culture, enjoy organic tea grown in Quang Ninh’s coastal areas, and experience making to he (toy figurines) and wearing the traditional Vietnamese conical hat.
