Vietnam - Japan People-to-people Diplomacy to be Promoted through Culture, Sports, Tourism
On the website of the Japanese Embassy to Vietnam, the new Ambassador said: "I have been looking forward to this day since I was appointed Ambassador to Vietnam at the end of March. After the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam in 2023, Japan-Vietnam relations are at their best stage. As the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, I am thrilled to contribute to bringing the bilateral relations to new heights. I also feel the responsibility of this position."

Ito Naoki recalled Vietnam and Japan's establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership in November 2023. For Japan-Vietnam relations to be commensurate with the new partnership, the Ambassador affirmed that he would strive to consolidate the friendly and cooperative relationship in many fields such as economics, security, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
Regarding economy, Ambassador Ito Naoki said that Japanese businesses are eager to invest in Vietnam. Strengthening economic cooperation is the most important driving force to deepen Japan-Vietnam relations, said the diplomat.
"I will listen to the opinions of Japanese businesses operating in Vietnam, and at the same time strive to improve the business environment. Given the rapid innovation progress that is happening worldwide, I want to join you in continuing to develop cooperative activities between Japan and Vietnam in new areas such as digital transformation and green transformation," said Ambassador Ito Naoki.
During the recent 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Japan and Vietnam organized more than 500 commemorative programs, with new exchange activities in many fields and levels. With this momentum, the Ambassador hopes to promote people-to-people exchanges through culture, sports, and tourism.
For the nearly 20,000 Japanese people living in Vietnam, Ambassador Ito Naoki said he will continue to try to ensure that Japanese citizens can continue to live and work safely in Vietnam.
