P4G Summit - opportunity for Vietnam to affirm strong commitments to SDGs: Deputy PM
The fourth Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit will be an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its strong commitments to achieving the UN's sustainable development goals, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Bui Thanh Son.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Hanoi summit, slated for April 14-17, Son said that the event, themed “Sustainable and People-Centred Green Transition” is the first multilateral high-level conference in the field of green growth, green transition, and sustainable development hosted by Vietnam.
He said that as sustainable development and green transition form an inevitable trend and strategic choice for nations, this P4G Summit will offer a chance for Vietnam to work with the international community to promote green and sustainable transition strategies at national, regional, and global levels.
The summit also aims to concretise the policies and viewpoints of the Vietnamese Party and State regarding foreign relations, deepen relationships with partners, and enhance Vietnam's position and role in multilateral mechanisms, thereby leveraging international resources for development, especially in combating climate change and promoting green transition, digital transformation, science-technology, and innovation.
Moreover, as Vietnam enters a new era of the nation’s rise, this is also an opportunity to affirm the correct path of the Vietnamese Party and State in sustainable development. Vietnam will not sacrifice social progress, social equity, and the environment in pursuit of mere economic growth. Green growth must contribute to restructuring the economy linked with transforming the growth model to achieve economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and social equity.
Through this summit, Vietnam wishes to extend to the international community a message of a Vietnam that is determined to transform its growth model, promote rapid and sustainable development, showcase strong economic achievements and potential, its unique cultural values, and the hospitality, friendliness, and resilience of the Vietnamese people, the Deputy PM said.
Regarding Vietnam’s preparation for the summit, Son said that given the significance of the summit, the preparation work has received special attention and been carried out early on, with active and responsible participation from ministries, sectors, and Hanoi to ensure the summit's success in all aspects, cited VNA.
To date, about 600 international delegates from over 40 countries and international organizations, including P4G member countries and partners, investment funds, research institutes, scholars, businesses, and diplomatic missions have registered to participate in the event, both in-person and online.
Many high-ranking leaders from countries and partners, including the UN Deputy Secretary-General, three Prime Ministers, and several Deputy Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers are expected to visit Vietnam and attend the summit.
Regarding the agenda, the Deputy PM said that Vietnam has actively exchanged with and consulted P4G member countries and partners on the summit's theme and focused discussions, particularly those on policies that promote public-private partnership, attract investment, the maximisation of resources for green transition, the application of technology and innovation to improve resource efficiency, reduce emissions, ensure sustainable energy transition, and prepare human resources for a green economy.
The summit is expected to adopt the Hanoi Declaration, strongly affirming commitments to green and sustainable growth with people at the centre, and a determination to collaborate responsibly in addressing current global challenges, he said, noting the success of this summit will provide values to all stakeholders, helping the international community find more effective solutions to global challenges and achieve tangible results in fulfilling sustainable development goals.
Youth of Vietnam and China join hands to promote traditional friendship
The youth of Vietnam and China will continue joining hands to preserve and promote the traditional friendship between the two countries, agreed the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam and the Communist Youth League of China during talks in Hanoi on April 13.
Bui Quang Huy, first secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam, noted that the youth organizations of the two countries have in recent years enhanced exchanges and cooperation, bringing practical benefits and results for their young people.
They have continuously nurtured the traditional friendship between the youth and people of the two countries, and together have contributed to promoting the healthy and stable development of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, in line with the principles of “Good neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and forward-looking future.”
Reviewing the achievements of the youth organizations of both countries in recent years, linked with the 2024-2027 cooperation document, Huy proposed several activities for cooperation between the youth of Vietnam and China in general, and between the youth organizations of the two countries in particular, according to VOV.

Bui Quang Huy, first secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam, and A Dong, first secretary of the Communist Youth League of China, hold talks in Hanoi on April 13 as part of the ongoing 24th Vietnam - China Youth Friendship Meeting. |
He said Vietnam and China should further strengthen youth cooperation by promoting education on their traditional friendship, especially during the Year of Vietnam – China Humanistic Exchange 2025. Both sides will expand theoretical research on youth-related policies and organize meaningful joint activities. One such initiative is the launch of the Red Journey where the youth from both countries will visit historic revolutionary sites to better understand the shared revolutionary history and solidarity between the two Parties and states.
On this occasion, Huy invited leaders of the Communist Youth League of China to participate in an online conference in June 2025 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League, the predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The League was founded in June 1925 in Guangzhou (China) by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc (President Ho Chi Minh), with the aim of promoting Marxism-Leninism, training revolutionary cadres, and preparing conditions for the establishment of a proletarian political party in Vietnam.
For his part, A Dong, first secretary of the Communist Youth League of China, expressed strong agreement with Huy’s proposals, and affirmed that the “good comradeship” between Vietnam and China serves as a solid foundation for implementing youth cooperation and exchange activities during the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange 2025, as well as in the future.
He proposed that both sides coordinate to effectively implement and expand the organization of the 25th Vietnam-China Youth Friendship Meeting, suggesting the inclusion of online formats to increase participant numbers.
He also suggested that the two sides jointly carry out more small-scale, in-person exchange activities to provide more opportunities for young people to meet and learn from each other, especially in border localities.
A Dong appreciated the Red Journey initiative, considering it an effective one that will make an important contribution to enhancing mutual understanding and improving the knowledge and political theory of Vietnamese and Chinese youth. This initiative, he noted, is closely tied to the history of both countries and the formation and development of the two Parties.
The talks were part of the 24th Vietnam – China Youth Friendship Meeting that is taking place in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh and Ho Chi Minh City from April 12-18.
Italy's Liguria region eyes stronger economic cooperation with Vietnam
An Asia-Vietnam business dialogue has been held in the Italian city of Genoa, focusing on opportunities for economic, cultural, and innovation cooperation between the Liguria region and Vietnam.
Jointly organized by Liguria International, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM), and the Asian Economic and Cultural Council, the April 11 event brought together over 50 representatives from Italian organizations, companies, and institutions, highlighting Vietnam's importance as Italy's main trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The dialogue featured expert insights into regional trade dynamics, real-world business case studies, and analysis of Vietnam’s fast-evolving key sectors — from manufacturing to technological innovation — amid shifting global trends.
In his opening remarks, Carlo Golda, President of Liguria International, underscored the strategic value of deepening relations with Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, given Liguria’s strengths in maritime trade, logistics, and manufacturing.

She highlighted Vietnam’s network of 17 free trade agreements—covering markets that account for 60% of global GDP—with the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) offering especially strong potential for Italian businesses.
Thao introduced key infrastructure projects such as the North–South Expressway, new international airports, seaports, and 5G telecom networks and invited Ligurian companies to take part in Vietnam International Sourcing 2025, scheduled to take place on September 4–6 in HCM City and Italy Expo Da Nang, which is expected to be the largest Italian trade fair ever in Vietnam.
