Vietnam, RoK strengthen comprehensive strategic partnership in hi-tech cooperation
Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA), visited the Republic of Korea (RoK) from September 22 - 24 to advance the Party’s strategic orientations on establishing new growth models in the era of transformation, while also concretizing the outcomes of Party General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to the RoK in August.
On September 23, Thang, who is also Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representative offices in Seoul. He updated them on Vietnam’s socio-economic development, praised their efforts in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with the RoK, and encouraged them to remain a strong bridge between the two nations and their people.
He noted that the visit came shortly after Vietnam celebrated the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025), and the national conference to implement four major Politburo resolutions on international integration, energy security, education and training reforms, and public healthcare.
Thang expressed his hope that the visit would give fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation, especially in high technology and education, while also benefiting the Vietnamese community in the RoK.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Vu Ho briefed the delegation on the embassy’s affairs, highlighting trade and investment as bright spots in the bilateral relations. He said the embassy has supported businesses from both countries while promoting cultural diplomacy and external communication to deepen mutual understanding and secure greater support for Vietnam’s positions on regional and international issues.
Vietnamese in the RoK now form one of the world's largest overseas Vietnamese communities, and the embassy has continued to play a central role in citizen protection, consular affairs, and fostering solidarity among expatriates, cited VNA.
During the trip, Thang also met with Park Cheol Hee, Chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA); Lim Chae Won, President of the National Human Resources Development Institute (NHI); leaders of Samsung Group; and attended the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam–Samsung Global Leadership Program (VOSP).
At KNDA, both sides spoke highly of the unprecedented political trust in the bilateral ties. They agreed to effectively implement their memorandum of understanding, including a high-level Vietnam–RoK forum and joint studies on strategic security, peace, and development in the current global context.
At NHI, the two sides reviewed more than 15 years of cooperation in training mid- and high-level Vietnamese officials under the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) programs. Thang highly evaluated the partnership in capacity building, while Lim affirmed NHI’s commitment to continue training programs, especially in areas of digital transformation, green growth, and sustainable development.
The delegation also toured Samsung’s Data Systems (SDS) Center, which employs over 25,000 staff worldwide, including more than 2,000 in Vietnam. Thang praised Samsung’s breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and data technologies, and encouraged closer collaboration with Vietnam’s AI ecosystem.
At the ceremony marking a decade of the VOSP program, which was designed to enhance leadership knowledge for Vietnamese officials in cooperation with Samsung, Thang emphasised the importance of human resources and innovation. He noted that the program has strengthened ties between institutions, localities, and businesses of both countries, contributing to the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The successful visit reaffirmed the determination of both sides to expand cooperation in science, advanced technology, innovation, education, and policy research, further reinforcing the Vietnam–RoK comprehensive strategic partnership in the new development era.
Vietnam – Greece relations continue to flourish: Official
A ceremony has been held in Athens to mark the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam - Greece diplomatic relations and the 80th National Day of Vietnam (September 2).
The event saw the attendance of First Deputy Speaker of the Greek Parliament Ioannis Plakiotakis, Deputy Minister of Development Stavros Kalafatis, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Parliament, the Communist Party, local authorities of Greece, ambassadors and chargés d’affaires of foreign missions in Athens, along with a large number of Vietnamese expatriates in the European country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong highlighted the historic significance of the August Revolution and National Day, as well as Vietnam’s achievements over the past 80 years. From a war-ravaged nation, Vietnam has risen to become a symbol of peace, stability, and hospitality, welcoming over 17 million international visitors annually. From a backward economy, the country has entered the world’s top 32 economies by GDP scale and ranks among the 20 leading nations in terms of trade and foreign investment attraction. In the first half of this year, Vietnam’s GDP growth reached 7.52%, the highest in 15 years.
With its strategic location in the dynamic Southeast Asian region and a population of over 100 million, Vietnam has become an attractive destination for global investors. Once blockaded and isolated, Vietnam now maintains diplomatic relations with 194 nations, has established strategic and comprehensive partnerships with 38 countries, and is an active member of more than 70 international organizations. In this process, Vietnam has always valued the support of international friends, including Greek people, VNA reported.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties on April 15, 1975, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Greece has been steadily strengthened across many fields. Both sides have maintained regular high-level exchanges and supported each other at regional and international forums, the ambassador noted.
Vietnam highly evaluates Greece’s role in the European Union and the Mediterranean. With shared aspirations for peace, stability, and sustainable development, along with complementary strengths and a common vision, the two countries are expected to further expand cooperation, particularly in trade, shipping, tourism, education, and cultural exchange, she said.
In his remarks, Plakiotakis congratulated Vietnam on its 80th National Day and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, while praising the country’s socio-economic achievements that have improved people’s lives. He recalled the symbolic figure of Kostas Sarantidis whose Vietnamese name is Nguyen Van Lap – a Greek national who fought alongside the Vietnamese people, received many orders, and was honoured as a Hero of the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces. He said Sarantidis epitomises the deep bonds and admiration that the Greek people have for Vietnam.
Plakiotakis affirmed that with shared values of peace, respect for the UN Charter, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and pride in their historical and cultural traditions, Vietnam–Greece relations will continue to flourish. He expressed his confidence that the upcoming official visit to Greece by Vietnamese National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai will further strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation and the bilateral ties.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, attendees contemplated a photo exhibition on Vietnam and its people, documentary screenings, traditional music and dance performances, and enjoyed Vietnamese dishes.
Tropical storm Bualoi forms, heading toward central Vietnam
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a tropical depression east of the Philippines intensified into a storm, named Bualoi internationally.
At 7 a.m. on September 24, Bualoi was churning through the eastern part of the Philippines, with maximum sustained winds near its Center reaching 75-88kmh. It was moving west-northwest at a speed of about 15kmh.
Bualoi is forecast to continue moving quickly toward the East Sea and may strengthen further in the coming days.
Meteorological agencies predicted that Bualoi would move into the East Sea by the night of September 26 and is likely to move toward central Vietnam, particularly from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai. This is a common path according to the seasonal climate pattern.
Although Bualoi may strengthen, meteorologists ruled out the possibility that it could become a super typhoon, cited VOV.

Vietnam aviation hits record high in passenger-cargo transport
Vietnam's aviation industry continues to assert its regional leadership with a breakthrough performance in the first three quarters of 2025.
According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, both passenger and cargo transport saw robust growth, laying a solid foundation for the year-end period.
In total, the domestic aviation market served more than 64 million passengers during the nine-month period, up nearly 11 percent compared with the same time last year, VGP reported.

Cargo volume also surged impressively, exceeding 1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of almost 19 percent.
International routes have been the key driver of this growth. Passenger transport on global routes reached over 35 million, rising by more than 13 percent, while international cargo climbed nearly 23 percent to about 946,000 tons.
These figures highlight not only the strong rebound of tourism and global trade but also Vietnam's growing appeal on the international stage.
Vietnamese carriers played a central role in this achievement, accounting for nearly 44 million passengers (up over 8 percent) and more than 343,000 tons of cargo (up over 5 percent).
In the international segment alone, domestic airlines carried close to 15 million passengers and more than 174,000 tons of cargo, underscoring their competitiveness and ability to meet rising market demand.
To achieve these impressive results, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam implemented flexible and effective management measures. According to its leaders, transport oversight closely tracked market trends and real travel demand, particularly during peak periods such as the Gregorian New Year, Lunar New Year 2025, the summer season, and other major holidays.
