Vietnam-US Friendship Festival: Enhancing Mutual Understanding and Strengthening Trust Between Peoples of Two Countries

On November 23 in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the US Mission to Vietnam, and the Hanoi People’s Committee jointly organized the Vietnam-US Friendship Festival. This event is part of a series of activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In the late 1980s, a conference at Stony Point (New York, USA) opened a new chapter in Vietnam-US humanitarian cooperation, bringing non-governmental organizations and US veterans to Vietnam to join hands in healing the wounds of war. Ha Huy Thong, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, former Head of the Advance Delegation to Open a Liaison Office in Washington, D.C. (USA), Vice President of the Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship and Cooperation Association, Member of the Vietnam Peace and Development Council - who directly attended the conference - recounted the milestones when the first "seeds of peace" were sown with trust and goodwill between the people of the two countries.
