Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association Beef-Up SMF and SIF Ties

President of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association Vu Viet Ngoan exchanges the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the association and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF).

The President of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association on Feb. 25 signed cooperation agreements with the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and the Singapore International Foundation (SIF).

A Memorandum of Understanding signed with SMF aims to contribute to people-to-people diplomacy in promoting cooperation between businesses of the two countries.

The participation of the two organizations will connect activities between public diplomacy and relations between businesses.

A Letter of Intent with SIF will concretize a number of areas of activity and continue some of the cooperation and exchange contents of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2017, renewed in 2019, reaffirming the commitment to enhance mutual understanding, multi-cultural knowledge and people-to-people.

This will be achieved through cross-border cooperation to create positive change in areas such as healthcare, education, social entrepreneurship and the arts.

Since its establishment in 2014, the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations has constantly established and expanded cooperation relationships with Singaporean partners.

The association's activities have contributed to strengthening and expanding the relationship of solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnamese and Singaporean.

They have also acting as a bridge for the development of multifaceted cooperation in the economy, trade, science and technology, education and training, culture, sports and tourism to aid peace, cooperation and development.

President of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association Dr Vu Viet Ngoan also is former head of the the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Group.

During the state visit from Feb. 24-26, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc had talks with Singaporean President Halimah Yacob, PM Lee Hsien Loong, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Tan Chuan-Jin and witnessed the exchange of cooperation agreements between ministries and sectors of the two sides.

Singapore was the largest foreign investor of Vietnam in the past two years and two-way trade thrived despite the ongoing pandemic.
