Vietnam - Thailand Navy Hold 49th Joint Patrol
From April 8 to 9, in the waters bordering Vietnam and Thailand, Ship Squadrons 261, 264 and Ship Squadrons 456, 526 conducted joint patrols according to the "Regulations on joint patrols and establishment of communication channel between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Royal Thai Navy," signed by the navy commanders of both countries on June 14, 1999.

During the patrol, the two sides performed greeting procedures at sea between naval vessels of ASEAN countries (Hello ASEAN); practice hand flags, lights, and whistle signals according to the International Codes of Signals; practice reporting targets to officers on watch; search and rescue exercises and implementation of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES).

During the patrol, through communication channels, Vietnam and Thailand's Navies also actively propagated and mobilized fishermen of the two countries to comply with regulations when fishing for seafood at sea strictly. They were warned not to violate the sovereignty of other countries.

With careful preparation and close coordination, the 49th joint patrol was a success. Thereby, it contributes to maintaining security and order in the waters bordering Vietnam and Thailand while continuing to promote cooperative relations and enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two countries' navies.
