Vietnam, Thailand target USD20 billion trade in 2020
(VNF) - On August 2nd, the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam – Thailand held by People’s Committee of Dong Nai province took place in Bien Hoa, Dong Nai.
Mrs Bui Ngoc Thanh, chairman of the Dong Nai Union Friendship Organization gave flowers to Mrs. Ureerat Ratanaprukse, Thai Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Vinh – Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee said, during the past 40 years of diplomatic ties, Vietnam – Thailand relations have gained significant achievements in all fields.
Thailand has become the leading trading partner among ASEAN countries in Vietnam. Two-way trade grows 10-13% annually. The two countries have set targets to reach USD 20 billion trade by 2020.
In the field of investment, Thailand is the 11th largest investor in Vietnam with over 400 projects and a total investment of approximately USD 7.88 billion (as of quarter I – 2016). Particularly in Dong Nai, Thailand ranks the 5th of 44 countries and territories investing in the province with 37 projects, with total registered capital of nearly USD 1.4 billion.
At the ceremony, Mrs. Ureerat Ratanaprukse, Thai Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city, expressed her confidence in the two countries’ target of USD 20 billion trade by 2020.
She also affirmed that Thailand would always be willing to promote cooperation with Dong Nai in all areas./.
