According to the report presented at the conference, during the first half of 2026, the Society continued to implement a wide range of people-to-people diplomacy activities as Vietnam-US relations maintained their positive momentum. Cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, investment, high technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green transition, and supply chain development continued to create new opportunities for bilateral collaboration.

In the field of external relations, the Society continued to organize delegation exchanges, cultural and educational exchange programs, and expand its network of partners in the US. It welcomed delegations of American students, teachers, veterans, and numerous partners to Vietnam, while strengthening connections with US universities, research institutions, businesses, and civil society organizations. Exchange activities, meetings, and commemorative events honoring peace advocates contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and reinforcing friendship and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.

The Society also continued to contribute to strengthening dialogue and fostering greater mutual understanding and consensus between Vietnam and the US on issues of shared concern, while further promoting external communications, research, and policy recommendations in support of people-to-people diplomacy.

In the field of reconciliation and addressing the consequences of war, the Society continued to coordinate with US partners in implementing the "Peace House" project, contributing to humanitarian efforts and strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries. External communications activities were also carried out through the regular publications of the Vietnam-US Magazine, digital platforms, and various media, cultural exchange, and outreach initiatives.

Participants at the conference noted that, as Vietnam-US relations continue to develop, the Society's activities should continue to be renewed by strengthening partner connectivity, improving the quality of research and policy recommendations, and enhancing the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in education, culture, economy, reconciliation, and addressing the consequences of war. These efforts also help reinforce the social foundation of Vietnam-US relations within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During the second half of 2026, the Society will continue to improve the quality of its people-to-people diplomacy activities, expand its network of partners in the United States, strengthen research, policy recommendations, and monitoring of developments in the United States and bilateral relations, while organizing delegation exchanges, seminars, and networking activities in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education, and trade.

The Society identified two key priorities for the remainder of the year: participating in the 500-day and night campaign to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers, and coordinating activities marking the 65 years since the Agent Orange disaster. It will also continue promoting cooperation in reconciliation and addressing the consequences of war, strengthen connections with local friendship associations, and prepare for the Fifth National Congress of the Vietnam-US Society in accordance with the established plan.

In his remarks at the conference, VUFO Vice President Dong Huy Cuong highly appreciated the Society's achievements during the first six months of 2026, noting that it has continued to be one of VUFO's most active member organizations and has made effective contributions to the Union's people-to-people diplomacy efforts.

At the same time, the Society should focus on implementing the 500-day and night campaign alongside activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster.

Dong Huy Cuong also urged the Society to continue leveraging its team of experts in research and policy recommendations on Vietnam-US relations, maintain and further develop relationships with partners following cooperation activities, and make thorough preparations for the Fifth National Congress of the Vietnam-USA Society.
