Vietnam Veterans of America representatives visit Da Nang
(VNF) - The Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations (DAFO) under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) has hosted a meeting with a delegation of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), who are in the city on February 13th.
Addressing the meeting, DAFO President Huynh Duc Truong expressed his happiness to welcome Mrs. Marsha Lynn Four, Vice President and the VVA’s delegation.

He lauded the efforts of the VVA with ‘Veterans Initiative’ Program (VIP) in cooperation and helping Vietnam search and repatriate the remains of dead or missing Vietnamese soldiers and stressed it is an activity of humanitarian significance, strengthening ties between Vietnam and the U.S.
On behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Marsha L. Four thanked thanked for the warm welcome of the DAFO, adding that they were impressed by the achievements Da Nang has made in the current socio-economic development.
She continued, “VVA is implementing an initiative programme, initiated by the U.S. war veterans, which aims to find and verify information to ensure effective searches for the remains of U.S. servicemen. In the immediate future, more care will be provided for Vietnamese Agent Orange (AO)-affected victims and public awareness about the effects of AO amongst Vietnamese families will be increased”.
After the meeting, the U.S. group visited the Da Nang War Veterans' Association, Da Nang Association for Victims of AO/ Dioxin and some families of AO-affected victims.

On the same day, the VVA delegates had a meeting with Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung.
During the reception, Vice Chairman Dung remarked that the U.S. government has helped to implement the ‘Removal of Dioxin Contamination at the Da Nang International Airport’ project and to provide much humanitarian aid for the city. adding that this has helped the two sides to strengthen their bilateral friendship and cooperative relationship./.
