Vietnam weather forecast: widespread heavy rains to hit the north until August 19

Due to the wind convergence zone of up to 5,000m, which is getting stronger, the northern region is forecast to experience widespread heavy rains from August 13-19, according to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting.
The common rainfall in the northwestern region and the Viet Bac region, encompassing Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen provinces, ranges from 40-70mm/12 hours, even more than 100mm in some places.
The centre warned of flash floods, landslides and inundation in the mountainous provinces of Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang and Vinh Phuc.

Rains are also forecast for Central Highlands and southern in the coming days, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Meanwhile, a widespread heatwave will bake the central region on August 13, with temperatures hovering around 35-36C, and is expected to decrease on August 14.
