Vietnam won medals the Asia-Pacific Taekwondo Invitational Championships
(VNF) - The Vietnam’s women’s team led by coach Ho Anh Tuan bagged one gold and two bronzes at the recent 2015 Asia-Pacific Taekwondo Invitational Championships in the SM Iloilo city, the Philippines.
Truong Thi Kim Tuyen, (18, from Vinh Long province), one of the six members, who got a bye in the first round, won three next rounds in a row to take gold medal in the 49kg category.
Two bronze medals went to Ha Thi Nguyen, (25, from Hanoi team) in the 67kg pision and Pham Thi Thu Hien, (20, Quang Nam province-born) in the 57kg class.
Organized by the Philippine Taekwondo Association, sanctioned by the World Taekwondo Federation, the two-day event attracted the best Filipino men and women fighters as well as those from Korea, the USA, Guam, Japan, Mongolia and Vietnam.
The eight categories are matches for men (-58kg, -68kg, -80kg and +80kg) and women (-49kg, -57kg, (-67kg and +67kg).
These medals have created a strong impetus for Vietnamese girls in the preparation of the 28 SEA Games in Singapore next June./.
