The Association of Vietnamese Communities in Korea has recently held a meeting to plan for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

Many programs have been planned and implemented by the association such as calling for donations from organizations in Vietnam and South Korea to support needy Vietnamese in South Korea and holding a singing lesson for children in Vietnamese classes across South Korea.

The lesson will be held in the form of a music stage for people under 19 years old in Vietnamese classes held by the Association of Vietnamese Communities in Korea and its local units.

The association will also coordinate with other organizations to hold the 10th "Vietnamese Cultural Festival in Korea" featuring many special programs to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea.

Also at the meeting, Le Van Hung - First Secretary, in charge of community affairs of the Vietnamese Embassy to the Republic of Korea awarded the Embassy's Certificate of Merit to three outstanding staff of the Association of Vietnamese Communities in Korea.

Three Embassy Certificate of Merits was granted to three outstanding individuals of the Association of Vietnamese Communities in Korea.

Vu Duc Luong, head of the association awarded certificates of merit to four outstanding staff. The association also granted a decision to recognize two branches in Daejeon and Jeonnam - Gwangju, that had just held their first congresses.

In 2021, the Association has successfully hosted many activities. Responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Vietnamese community in Korea has raised an amount equivalent to VND 711,640,000 (US$ 31,000) to donate to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund.

To earn money for the fund, the association launched a program named "Giving love" in October 2021. It has called Korean organizations and individuals to donate hundreds of millions of dong and medical supplies to support Vietnam to fight the pandemic.

To achieve its aim of building a strong and united Vietnamese community in South Korea, which contribute to the construction and development of the homeland, the association regularly maintains activities such as free legal and interpreting support for difficult individuals in the community, pandemic information, and hosts the "Vietnam in Me" contest on the occasion of Vietnamese national day.

On the last Lunar New Year, the association held "Loving Spring 2022" under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy to Korea, the sponsor of Hanna Bank, to encourage the community to overcome hardship and also contribute to preserving Vietnamese culture in the host country. The event promoted the spirit of mutual love and support, giving expats motivation to develop themselves in the new year.

Last year, the Association of Vietnamese Communities in Korea together with the Vietnamese Association in Daejeon and the Vietnamese Association in Gwangju-Cheonnam also held Vietnamese language classes for mixed race children in the area.
