Thu-Hong Nguyen is the woman behind the mission.

After seeing the reports about the shortage of protective gear in hospitals, she asked herself “What can we do to help this situation?”

This is what we need more of in this world during this #COVID19 pandemic. Hong Nguyen has gathered more than 20,000 gloves and 900 face masks from nail salons and delivered them to our local hospitals! What an uplifting story to tell on this #NationalDoctorsDay. @weartv

Nguyen has been in contact with local nail salons throughout Escambia County and says the response has been overwhelming.

So far they’ve delivered 12,000 gloves and 750 face masks to Baptist Hospital. Sacred Heart received 10,000 gloves and 200 masks.

“This is something they can do, business will return," Nguyen said. "It may be months or more -- however, this is a critical time where they can support and contribute, which is awesome. We assure them to keep what they want to keep, but donate what they can do. We can get over this together.”

She says this weekend the supplies have piled up, making her very proud of the community.

Nguyen says they have another delivery planned for this week where they will donate 10,000 gloves each to Baptist and Sacred Heart.

They’ll continue to deliver as long as people donate.
