A program to introduce Vietnamese goods and foods in the UK has recently opened at Longdan Supermarket, Crawley, UK.

The week-long event is hosted by the Vietnam Trade Office under the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK, in collaboration with the Vietnam Business Association in the UK (VBUK), Longdan and EUTEK groups. The opening ceremony of the event in Crawley attracted a large number of local consumers.

As part of activities in the trade promotion program of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the event aims to introduce high-quality Vietnamese products that are benefiting from the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) to British retailers and consumers.

Handicraft products, coffee, fresh and dried fruits, canned fruit juice, vermicelli, dried noodle, rice papers, cashew nuts, and fragrant rice from reputable export enterprises of Vietnam are being displayed at the supermarket and Vietnamese markets in Nottingham.

At this event, Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company opened a showroom of Nature Queen - a familiar brand with Vietnamese consumers with its line of herbal health care and beauty products. Through this event, Sao Thai Duong also became the first Vietnamese enterprise to have a showroom in the UK.

To access the UK market, Vietnamese manufacturers, exporters and distributors of Vietnamese products in the UK need to work together.

Vietnamese enterprises also need a long-term strategy in 5-10 years. This is the necessary time for them to research the market, build a brand, and plan strategies in stages. Successfully building a brand in the UK - known as the most difficult market in the world - helps open the door to export Vietnamese products to other markets in the region.

Nguyen Thi Huong Lien, vice president of Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company, said it took more than 10 years for Sao Thai Duong to research and meet British standards, allowing them to bring Nature Queen to this market.

Lien said Vietnamese businesses need to cooperate to develop Vietnamese brands in the international market. She said she is willing to share Sao Thai Duong's experience with businesses wishing to expand the market and export to the UK.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long said that the program will introduce Vietnam’s culture and people to the UK, help Vietnamese businesses there bring more products to the European country.

According to Trade Counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy Nguyen Canh Cuong, the program attracted the attention of many British retailers and consumers.

Huynh Xuan Long, chairman of Longdan –-the biggest importer of Vietnamese goods in the UK, said the event offers a good chance to introduce the image of Vietnam as a country with quality and diverse agricultural products.
